Toronto Caribana is the largest cultural gathering that commemorates the Centennial celebrations of Canada. Started in 1967, the Toronto Caribana Carnival is marked as a gift to Toronto from the Caribbean islands that celebrates the city’s multicultural population and fondness of street celebrations.

The carnival brings a unanimous joy to the streets of Toronto, as millions of tourists flock to the city and join the locals to indulge in the unique celebrations. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the Toronto Caribana Carnival.

The Grand Parade is the focal point of all celebrations that dissect through downtown Toronto. It starts at Exhibition Place and goes up to Lakeshore Boulevard as a street celebration of mas bands and costumed dancers. The parade also includes street foods from Caribbean vendors.

J’ouvert is a mini-parade before the Grand Parade itself which includes impromptu playing of instruments by steelpan bands and creative performances by masqueraders. This is a more informal kind of event before the headliner parade.
