Toronto Caribana Highlights

Toronto Caribana is the largest cultural gathering that commemorates the Centennial celebrations of Canada. Started in 1967, the Toronto Caribana Carnival is marked as a gift to Toronto from the Caribbean islands that celebrates the city’s multicultural population and fondness of street celebrations.

·        Grand Parade

The Grand Parade is the focal point of all celebrations that dissect through downtown Toronto. It starts at Exhibition Place and goes up to Lakeshore Boulevard as a street celebration of mas bands and costumed dancers. The parade also includes street foods from Caribbean vendors. 

·        J’ouvert

J’ouvert is a mini-parade before the Grand Parade itself which includes impromptu playing of instruments by steelpan bands and creative performances by masqueraders. This is a more informal kind of event before the headliner parade. 

·        King & Queen Showcase

The King & Queen showcase is costume pageantry that adjudges the best-dressed male and female leaders of mass bands. 

·        Carnival Ball
